Have you ever noticed that the greatest achievements and growth occur when people join hands and work together? It’s a simple concept, yet powerful beyond words. At Whitehall Boca we believe strongly in that principle and since our opening in 1982 have actively worked to support our community, which has received us warmly, treated us with respect, and continues to help us flourish.
The way in which our community involvement occurs varies, with many of our efforts directed toward education, scholarship funding, public health forums, free health screenings, and more. Following
is just some of what we do to give back to our community:
Student Education
On a regular and continuing basis we work with local colleges and universities to help students in various medical professions get expert hands-on training with our seasoned staff members. We do this because the young people of today will be the medical professionals you might encounter in the future. For that reason, students seeking degree fulfillment in physical therapy, nursing, speech therapy, social services and more join us in cooperative programs from Florida Atlantic University, the University of Florida, Nova University, and Keiser University. We offer them a real-world opportunity outside of a classroom to perfect their techniques and understand the dynamics of patient care.
Community Support Groups
We host free, monthly community sessions at our facility for cardiac rehabilitation, osteoporosis support, diabetes support, stroke support, and caregiver support. We work in conjunction with the American Heart Association and its affiliated Mended Hearts, the National Osteoporosis Foundation, American Diabetes Association, other agencies, and our own licensed professionals. (See information resources for these and other helpful organizations.) The emphasis for our Community Support Groups is on education, and guest speakers are on hand for every session. Our schedule:
Please call Allyson Johnson at 561-392-3000 for more information on any program.
Scholarship Program
We’re pleased to be proud sponsors of The George Snow Scholarship Fund, a nonprofit organization established in 1982 and based in Boca Raton.
The primary mission of The George Snow Scholarship Fund is to provide educational grants to deserving young people of Palm Beach and northern Broward counties. The Fund offers a variety of scholarships designed to bridge the gap between financial aid granted by colleges, state and federal aid sources and what recipients need in order to attend college. Over the years the organization and its community partners have awarded more than $3,500,000 to some 900 of the area's brightest and most worthy students. Whitehall’s financial contribution, which began in 2009, represents a continuing commitment to this important endeavor.
Health Fairs with Free Screenings
From time to time Whitehall Boca hosts free community health fairs, which provide a variety of screenings at no charge to help people determine whether they might have potential health risks. Past health fairs have included screenings for vision, hearing, cholesterol, blood sugar, bone density, lung capacity (pulmonary function tests), and balance. Watch our news page for upcoming events.
The Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce
Whitehall Boca is a trustee member of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, which brings together local businesses both for networking and for promoting causes to invest in the community. We believe our membership with the chamber helps keep us in touch with the vital issues that face our neighborhoods so that we can better support the community in relevant ways.
